12:00PM ET The major averages have seen very mild buy interest since the last update. Nonetheless, equities continue to look weak with the markets trading well into the lower half of their intraday ranges. Equity weakness is due in part to developments overseas. Asian stocks were mostly lower on weaker than expected Japanese GDP. Gross Domestic Product contracted by 0.2%, versus consensus expectations for a 0.2% increase. These data support the contention that global economic weakness remains a concern and contributes to the notion that the worst may not be behind the U.S. economy.
