Denis, great post - So much of Isenberg's stuff has the "ring of truth". Big fat cheap pipes, easy to lay: the cheaper they get, the more the barriers (many of them artificial) fall.

And the customer-owned LANs - the piranhas - bite off another chunk of the incumbent's profits, by doing better what the incumbent refused to do at all, or at hideous expense.

This will be reposted in many places, as it should.

Denis- That was a nice article. Very general of course. Nonetheless, interesting ideas. I agree with some. Disagree with others. A little George Gilder like with a touch of realistic expectations thrown in. -MikeM(From Florida)

thx for posting D. Isenbergs's article "The Era of Customer owned Networks" here. I think it's a masterpiece and a script of things to come. The "bottom up" approach is pretty much outlined there. Another "desired endpoint" of all us info junkies and netheads <g>
