Should I infer that you don't feel the product has crossed the chasm? If that's the case, has there ever been a company with a $1 billion run rate whose product category hasn't crossed?

$1B of appserver sales or $1B total sales? I would have thought that Tuxedo accounted for a hefty percentage.

I suppose, in strict TALC terms, one could say that J2EE appservers started to the right of the chasm, but there is still a transition period before a product really gets into the mainstream?

Let's not forget that while the press is all Java, Java, Java and everyone's focus is there, Java has, by no means, taken over the whole world of computing. There is still a massive amount of COBOL, after all ... in fact, the last time I saw a breakdown, which was a few years back, there was more COBOL than anything else. Not to mention a lot of C++ and a lot of people still going the CORBA route using a variety of ORBs. If they don't start getting the performance of Java up to the C++ range, there is bound to be some tension develop and a possible loss of luster.
