I gap my entries a bit; as this is a volatile sector & chasing .50 cent moves in stocks like NEM, or even HM don't make sense. But; I'm not glued to these levels; if HM "hits me" at $6.25 and then filters down to $5.65 and then the price of gold turns and/or some positive events occur; then I'd probably add more HM off an intermim bottom etc. All in all... anyone who gathers a nice core portfolio position - be it a 10%, or a 50% portfolio position; between the XAU low back in the low 40's to the high 50's here; will have a nice LT core holding in the gold miners imo. This 15 year XAU chart shows that approx 5 times in the last 15 years (once every 3 yrs on avg !) the XAU cycle takes us thru XAU 125 to 150; so anyone accumulating at these levels has a very rational, reasonable expectation of getting a 2.5 to a 3 bagger within 1-3 years imo & that's not a bad return... hence; "when, not if ~"finance.yahoo.com ^XAU&d=c&k=c1&a=v&p=m50,m200,s&t=my&l=on&z=m&q=l Below those above levels if we retest the old lows; I'd add just "calls" for NEM & maybe HM; but I'd chase KGC all the way down & probably would do so in GOLD & HGMCY as well. From there I wouldn't care if I had to hold 3-5 years; as we WILL see XAU 125-150 again... when, not if (VBG). re: RIG... I'm not short RIG here, but not long either. RIG has resistance at $60 & should the same weak economic environment & the same negative API/AGA supply build trends exist when RIG see's $60 once again - I'd begin to short there & at $72ish if, when seen; I'd be all over it with puts for leverage... I'm saving my "Cash" to go NET SHORT OSX stocks if it hits either resistance again in this environment, or if/when it goes to new highs. I have yet to cover my first NG short & don't think I will have to - for months & months & months to come... PS: that "SOX SHORT" aint doing too bad here either... NAZ 2500 in this economic environment & with these earnings numbers is as irrational as NAZ 5000 was when the numbers were heading in the right direction ( VBG ) - that ought to get the chihuahua's going... JNPR yesterday, NOKIA today; who's tomorrow ?
