Mark, depends on the data source maybe but I think it's widely accepted that "consumer debt" doesn't include mortgages - here is a Federal Reserve table that gives total debt service to disposable personal income, and then breaks it down to consumer and mortgage.

Economagic has the same data in a format that can be downloaded and put into a spreadsheet or you can use it to make charts.
