I was fallowing some links and came across this news.cnet.com The interesting part is:

"Effectively, five years from now, Rambus is collecting royalties on virtually the entire memory market," Edelstone said...Rambus executives stopped short of confirming that they believe the entire industry owes them royalties but noted that the company's patents cover the basic technology used in most high-speed memory..."The story has changed," Edelstone said. "Whereas there has always been a good degree of risk associated with the transition to Rambus-based memory, that's now a moot point. It's hard for me to believe anyone in their right mind would be short on the stock."

Rambus was at $113.75 at the time. This reminds me of an interview in 1995 with one of the hedge fund managers (at Circle T Partners I think). While discussing "types of stocks" on CNBC, he stated there are stocks like Computer Assoc. (CA) that you'd buy and hold forever and buy more on the dips because they are such great companies and will always be on top.

A "forever buy" rating from a hedge fund manager! Right there I had the greatest urge to short CA. Soon after the stock fell by 50% and despite its efforts to climb, earlier this year you could buy it below its '95 low.

That said, I am wondering if the time to buy RMBS is getting near. I have seen the supporting legal documents from Rambus, does anyone know where I can find their opposing teams' counterparts? At the very least I'd like to see Judge Payne's writings and IFX's statements.
