Perhaps Intel has a deal with Rambus that precludes any licensed P4 DDR chipsets in 2001? Or Intel has their own chip or a deal with another graphics chipset company?<

The only viable alternative I can think of is Kyro.

Using NVidia's chip would be endorsing AMDs HT Technology. Intel would definitely choose to suffer a performance hit (20% ??) rather than this. It's the NIH (Not Invented Here) syndrome again...
