NEW YORK, Jun 12, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- BottleRocket, a subsidiary of
digital media company ACTV, Inc. (Nasdaq: IATV), today announced that it has
joined Liberate's PopTV Developer Program. BottleRocket will be demonstrating
its games on the Liberate Platform in ACTV's booth, #3759, during the NCTA 2001
conference in Chicago.

As a member of Liberate's PopTV Program, BottleRocket has developed interactive
games to run on the Liberate TV Platform -- games have been optimized for play
on Motorola DCT-2000 and Scientific-Atlanta Explorer digital set-top boxes.
Leveraging their Internet-based game expertise, BottleRocket will now provide
compelling, interactive games through digital television, offering advertisers
and programmers the opportunity to extend and strengthen their brand identity
through fun and engaging interactive entertainment.

With over 10 million set-top boxes deployed in the U.S., interactive television
represents a broad market opportunity today for interactive games.
BottleRocket's games, which will incorporate infrastructure technology developed
by Intellocity, its sister subsidiary, are one of several iTV applications,
including targeted advertising and enhanced TV, that ACTV has developed for
digital set-top boxes.

"We are excited to work with BottleRocket while building on our long-standing
relationship with ACTV," said Erik Smith, director of developer relations for
Liberate Technologies. "BottleRocket's extensive game development experience and
understanding of set-top box and middleware technology will provide network
operators with compelling iTV entertainment."

"Liberate has been a front-runner among iTV developers in recognizing the vast
interactive entertainment potential of digital set-tops," said Kevin Liga,
executive vice president and chief technology officer, ACTV. "We look forward to
creating a dynamic experience for digital subscribers while developing new
revenue-generating opportunities for Liberate customers."
