I'm not sure how to respond ! Except to recall that Bob raised this subject asking whether Kinross's George Lake project had the same location-benefits as Cumberland's Meliadine. My answer was "No", but George Lake would be served directly by a port and road system currently under study by the Government of Nunavut.

I am delighted that Bob has drawn attention to the area, but it is not my view that this possible road and port in the Kitikmeot will of benefit to a wide area of the North. My study has therefore been directed to the Kitikmeot only. I look forward to others describing the projects in other areas. They are indeed interesting.

At the present time in Nunavut I believe there are only three operating mines; Nanisivik, Polaris and Echo Bay gold mines. Polaris will close next year. They NEED mining.
