I am not sure these heatsinks are very good indicators of the possibility of a 1.8GHz Athlon. Did you also notice that there was a Coppermine heatsink up to 1.6GHz, at least in the text you posted? Heastsinks often say their potential cooling performance rather than necessarily reflecting current or even planned processor releases. Unless there is a Coppermine 1.6GHz hiding on an Intel roadmap.

I think Dan3's idea of the magazine having a misprint of 1.6GHz @ 1.8V makes more sense.
