For Small to Medium Businesses

DENVER and ARMONK, N.Y., FOCUS 2001, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- J.D. Edwards

Optimized for J.D. Edwards' OneWorld(R) collaborative commerce and supply
chain management applications, the IBM eServer for J.D. Edwards is the first
server co-branded with an independent software vendor. The solution is
tailor-made for small- and mid-sized businesses looking for ways to
effectively manage and reduce the complexity of their e-business
infrastructures.
As part of the strategic alliance between the two companies, the IBM
eServer for J.D. Edwards will be jointly marketed worldwide through IBM
Business Partners, J.D. Edwards' direct sales force, and J.D. Edwards'
business partner network. J.D. Edwards is packaging software solutions
specifically for the new platform.
"This bold step by IBM and J.D. Edwards moves our global alliance to a new
level of collaboration and cooperation. The IBM eServer for J.D. Edwards
supports our goal to deliver leading collaborative solutions to mid-sized
businesses. It provides customers a lower total cost of ownership, simple
integration, and access to technology previously available only to larger
companies," said Hank Bonde, chief operating officer, J.D. Edwards.
"Leveraging the global reach of our two companies' sales infrastructures will
give us the power to move our joint offering into new markets."
Bonde added that both J.D. Edwards and IBM are working jointly to
configure additional models of the IBM eServer for J.D. Edwards to address the
further needs of mid-enterprise customers.
The IBM eServer for J.D. Edwards will be pre-configured to run HTML, Java
or Linux. In addition, as an IBM eServer this specialized offering shares the
same technology that helped establish a world record of Java performance on a
single IBM eServer iSeries system. Also, the IBM eServer iSeries established
a new industry record of 6,000 concurrent users in a recent benchmark running
J.D. Edwards' OneWorld Xe applications.
"Providing simple solutions for complex problems is a hallmark of IBM
eServer," said Buell Duncan, general manager, midmarket servers, IBM Server
Group. "Customers of all sizes must operate today in an increasingly complex
Internet world. It's particularly daunting to smaller companies. Working
with partners like J.D. Edwards allows us to give our joint customers
innovative, flexible, cost-effective solutions that help reduce
the complexity of their e-infrastructures."
General availability is expected sometime during the third quarter 2001.
