all these comparisons y'all are making to '87 fail to mention that the fed was hiking interest rates back then, and secretary baker was making comments about the dollar being too high, and there were missiles being fired in the middle east, etc. not to mention the markets had been sliding all month.

none of that is happening now.

several of the people that are well known 'analysts' or 'strategists' today were also spouting similar nonsense back then. from Goldman to Battadinges...they all got caught in the crash looking up.
