Srexley,

According to Worth magazine, 5 of the 10 richest cities in the USA are in California. Over 100 of the 200 richest cities are in California.

California is overwhelmingly Democratic.

" that top 1% that you guys hate so much? They PAY THE BILL."

Why are you so sure they are all repubs??? And I sure as hell don't hate them, I'm one of them....

I can't find out what % of the top 1% are repubs but the following quote from the Wash. Post and the LA Weekly on March 26 says something about voter demographics..

From Monday's Washington Post: "In 2000, the voters in
17 out of 25 of the nation's most affluent counties --
all with high percentages of people with advanced degrees
-- cast majorities for Al Gore, sometimes by more than 70
percent...."

LA Weekly Writer Johnny Angel adds: "In 1988, Bush beat
Dukakis among the wealthy by 25 points--in 2000, his son
beat Gore by [only] 7 points among the wealthy."

So maybe there are some compassionate republicans but there may be a lot of wealthy dems also.....maybe you ought to reset your thinking....
