If the MSFT install base of PCs is around 500 million (probably a conservative number) then that works out to $48 per PC last year, or $4 per month.

That's not a conservative number, unless you count all DOS machines that have ever been built and thrown into land fills, but I don't think people are paying $4/month for those machines. Hey, I could be wrong, maybe Microsoft has figured out a way to charge a subscription fee for people who have dumped their PCs, but I haven't heard about this yet. Do you have more information about MSFT's new .DUMP service?
