It comes into the house via the same cable but then is split in my attic and takes it's own cable. I believe it has to do with signal strength. Course, my is 4 years old so they may have improved the concept.

Huh? The cable internet service is provided by the same company that is the cable TV service. Why wouldn't the same cable be used?


because the cable co. provides on one IP address. And they really dont want you to even netwrok more computers without paying them for each. Of course if you pay them for each computer, they will provide you 3 IP addresses and you wont even need a hub or router. It will be the same as you living in 3 seperate houses and getting a connection for each.
