If Intel was to modify the x86-64 architecture set forth by AMD, which set of instructions would Microsoft back? I think Bill Gates would be more than happy to finally get back at Intel by supporting AMD's instruction set. Still, I highly doubt that Intel is working on their own x86-64 instruction set: not after the ridiculous amount of money they have poured into the IA-64 architecture.
