It is heartening to see someone of your views expressing concerns about what happened at Waco

I don't know what you intend to convey by someone of "my views," Christopher. I don't acclaim and exalt crippled Gods; so it should really not surprise you to learn that I don't equate the authority of wearing a badge with being moral or doing right. I don't care whether your authority comes from an FBI badge or a Jesus Certificate--this does not sanitize repulsive behaviour.

Lest it be misunderstod: I have not one iota of sympathy for the ACT committed by Timothy Mcveigh. There is not even a shadow of approval. However, I am able to have some compassion for the circumstances that led a young man to close down his heart and become an insane killing machine.

There has been a mainly successful campaign by the government to tar everybody who worries about what happened at Waco as a right wing milita extremist. (A perfect description of you?!)

I am not a Right wing or Left wing anything, nor am I a centrist. I am not Republican, Conservative, Democrat, or Liberal. I know people find it very convenient to put their opinions in one basket (I like this principle, so I will accept all those others, too). People like to belong to a group. But the group I belong to has ONE member.

Certainly, there is a place for group beliefs and group actions. But I suggest that the pen is less capable of "collateral" damage than is the sword.

Anyway, I understand where your indignation comes from. But a hierarchic system creates hierarchical justice. It is the natural way of Nature. And it will be a long time before humankind will be able to dispense with it.
