Hi, Rob - "I was wondering whether this might feature GPRS-OFDM hybrid technology".

I don't know if that, specifically, is in the cards. It doesn't lie within the current regulatory framework, as I understand it.

However, as you probably are aware (I don't have the links available. I recall articles from the Internet ISP lists, among others) there is an increasing tendency for enterprise users to demand voice as a part of their broadband package - whether wired or radio.

The incorporation of a voice component into future radio LANs is built into HiperLAN2, and (I'm assuming) would also be offered in VOFDM, which is DOCSIS-compliant. I am unsure how (or if) VOFDM which I understand to be designed for fixed usage, would morph to mobile; perhaps by passing off mobile to PCS?

All the precursors are there, Rob - but how it will shake out is anyone's guess. A while back, I tried this idea on elmat ;-)

Best regards,

Jim

Edit - The link is interesting, but vague on implementation.
