<<The gains in energy production are a positive sign only in that they may indicate greater supply of natural gas next year, and thus some easing of prices. This could help lead to lower electricity prices next year since nearly all new power plants are fueled by natural gas.>>
of course increases in production will eventually lower costs. of course, if they put those price caps in, they can kiss that increasing supply goodbye, as there will be a distinct reason for the power companies to stop building additional facilities. supply and demand is not a very difficult puzzle.... it amazes me how anyone would want to shut of additional supply in a time of increasing demand. very counter-intuitive.

MRV Communications, Inc. Honored With
Endurance Award for Six-Time Appearance on
Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500

CHATSWORTH, Calif., June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- MRV Communications, Inc. today
announced that it was honored with the Technology Fast 500 Endurance Award for its
six-time appearance on the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500, a ranking of the 500
fastest-growing technology companies in North America. The Fast 500's 2000 rankings
were based on five-year percentage revenue growth from 1995-1999. MRV
Communications, Inc. grew 636 percent during this period. It has ranked on the Fast 500
listing since the program's inception in 1995. Other recipients of the elite Endurance award
include AOL, Veritas Software Corporation, iBaset and Intermedia Communications.

``MRV Communications, Inc. is one of only five companies to make the Fast 500 ranking
for six consecutive years,'' said Mark A. Evans, managing director of Deloitte & Touche's
Technology & Communications Group. ``Since Fast 500 winners are ranked based on
five-year revenue growth, the baseline increases dramatically each year. It's an extraordinary
achievement to rank on the Fast 500 more than one year -- and even more so for six
consecutive years. We congratulate MRV Communications, Inc. on becoming one of the
500 fastest-growing technology companies in North America six times over.''

Fast 500 Selection and Qualifications

In its selection of the Fast 500 for Year 2000, Deloitte & Touche's team reviewed financial
records for more than 5,000 public and privately held technology companies. To qualify,
companies must: (1) have had 1995 revenues of at least $50,000 USD and $75,000 CD;
(2) be headquartered in the United States or Canada; and (3) be a ``technology company.''
A ``technology company'' is defined as one that develops proprietary technology which
contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues, manufactures a
technology product, or devotes a high percentage of effort to the research and development
of technology.
