it may well be. they're in a box, and they know it imo. many of their public statements are designed to head off criticism...e.g. the bubble was declared to be the fault of investors irrational expectations - not theirs. inflation is the fault of OPEC - not theirs. the irresponsible growth of the money supply isn't even a topic - since Greenboink can't define what money is and how to best measure its abundance. and so on. they have enormous power and are not really accountable to anyone...and they'd like to keep it that way. here's an interesting, if somewhat polemic, look at inflation (the thing Greenboink has declared not to be a problem): mwhodges.home.att.net
