Freeus,

I used to think that when the baby boomers approach retirement it would be good to get out of the stock market. However, after reading some on the issue I doubt that would be a good tactic. Its not as though as we approach retirement that we all take our money out of the market. It is suggested to retirees today to keep money in the stock market to help fight inflation decay of assets. Also I believe Europe and Asia do not have the boomer problem. I would guess this is true for South America as well. There are many beside US and Canadian boomers in the market.

BTW, I have felt much like you with the demise of my portfolio in the past year. I remember hearing a song last year by Smashmouth that had the words "I've seen better days" and "and the bottom dropped out". I remember mentioning that I will probably be singing that tune. So did I sell to prevent it? No. I feel like quite the dummy. I won't be fooled again though. (I hope!)
