>> Verizon Still On Target For Wireless IPO

UK Cellular News
June 13, 2001

The co-chief executive officer and chairman of Verizon Communications, Chuck Lee has said that the company is still expecting to float its cellular network, Verizon Wireless in the autumn of this year. Speaking at the CIBC World Markets "Communications Food Chain" Conference, he refused to outline any financials of the planned floatation, but did say that the company is committed to retaining a majority share in the company which Vodafone holds 45%. Any move by Verizon to place a block of stock onto the market, could however allow Vodafone to take control of the company and impose its preferred WCDMA technology for the USA 3G networks. <<
