It is not the Constitution that provides the exemption, it would be a provision of the Tax Code. Congress passed this to take care of themselves and there buddies during the round trip paths between political office and industry. I was not aware of this exemption but it is no surprise to me that Congress puts special "favors" in the Tax Code.
