Joe, 870 is Intel's primary chipset for McKinley and will launch at the same time as the processor. There are also third party McKinley chipsets being developed as well, and some of them even use 870 components.

Even better, all 25 of these companies have been profitable for at least the past five fiscal quarters. Now, list-making is always a perilous exercise in investing — or in financial journalism. Remember the "Nifty 50"? But these 25 stocks certainly stand out amid all the market wreckage....

Re: "That leaves the door open for AMD for 6 months. "

Nope - AMD only has a 2-way solution - and Intel already has 2-way XEON (Pentium 4) and 2, 4 and 8-way Pentium III systems in full production at all the major OEMs.

Re: "Wasn't there supposed to be an Intel based chipset - 870? "

The first version of this is targeted at McKinley (IA64) - for 4-way systems - and is SDRAM based, as you know.

It is scheduled to be adapted to the XEON platform - but the time frame of this is not something I have any information on.

Re: "Anyway, I don't think the Rambus based product is going to get very far in server space."

It will be a modest market, to be sure.
