re: ">On the other hand, Intel has new 32 bit CPUs in development that should keep pace with the Hamster on 32 bit applications.<"

And to think, AMD's entire R&D staff is down in the Bahamas sipping on mixed drinks for the last 12 months or so since the Athlon was introduced. They, obviously, see no need for further progress since the Athlon was first introduced. They see no reason to take advantage of the money for new R&D that is now available to them unlike the times when they operated "hand to mouth" when AMD was nearly broke. Obviously, now that they have resources that were scarce and almost unavailable to them, during which period they got appreciably more patents granted to them than did the mighty goliatH inteL. They are now squandering the advantage that they gained against apparently insurmountable odds by making no progress while inteL catches up and as they enjoy the undeniable leisure time that they have. I am sure that as Vice President Dirk Myers, to celebrate his recent promotion and stock option possibilities, is leading this ongoing party.

I wonder just what they will do with the $1 1/2 to $2 Billion that they are sitting on after they squander most of it on the party. Maybe they will plan a second party.

Remember that this is the team that went from being almost a full year behind inteL to being arguably almost a year ahead of inteL on almost every front of engagement, that they chose, in about one year. Maybe they will make an effort to stay way ahead of inteL.

NAW!!!!!! TOO OBVIOUS.

Patient Regards,

DARBES

Re: "So, you are claiming that Intel needs a new CPU to keep pace with the Hamster in 32-bit applications? Who has the crystal ball now? "

I am posting that a product is being developed - PERIOD !

You are the one that was posting SPPED and PERFORMANCE numbers for products that DO NOT YET EXIST.
