Web Site Offers Madonna Concert Ticket -- for Sex

BERLIN (Reuters) - A German Internet Web site has offered Madonna (news - web sites) fans a ticket for a sold-out concert in Berlin next week in exchange for having sex with one of its reporters, the publisher of on-line magazine Thema1 said Thursday.

Confirming a report in Cologne's Express newspaper, Thema1 Publisher Bernd Heusinger said 22 readers had already applied for a chance to win the ticket to attend the Berlin concert of rock icon Madonna as his guest.

Insisting there was nothing illegal about the offer, Heusinger said his staff and readers were voluntarily taking part. The staff would pick the winning entry Monday, he said.

``No one is being forced to take part,'' Heusinger said. ''There's nothing illegal about it. These are all volunteers. It's not an 'indecent proposal' even though it may be considered reprehensible.''

Prostitution is not illegal in Germany, he added.

The Madonna concerts in Berlin were sold out within minutes of going on sale in April and went for record prices, by German standards, of up to $110 each.

Heusinger said 12 male readers had sent in applications, which included nude photographs, to have sex with a woman columnist named Shelley Masters.

Six female readers had sent in applications to have sex with one of three men on the publication's staff and four gay readers had sent in bids to have sex with a gay staff member.

The Web site, www.thema1.de, which was launched in January, received a million ``hits'' or viewings of its pages each month, Heusinger said.
