That happened to me last year (somebody else using my kids' SSNs), but at least the IRS didn't disallow them right off the bat. They sent a letter saying to file a 1040X if I made a mistake, else do nothing. I guess they learned if they simply disallow the slowest filer, then it isn't their problem any more, it becomes your problem, and thus relieves them of the burden of resolving the matter if all the people who used the same dependents simply ignore the letters they send out. How thoughtful of them...
