First Ericsson announced it'll discard its cell-phone manufacturing operations and keep the brand only.... Then Alcatel followed suit... And now Nokia warning about an overall market slump. Meanwhile China ALONE undergoes a mobile explosion at a rate of 2.7 million new mobile subscribers per month!! And the telco pundits still lament about a lackluster market?! That's beyond me... Oh yes, Chinese sure don't have on average a paycheck fat enough to purchase those flashy Nokia cell-gizmos at $500...

China Mobile Service Hits 60 Million Subscribers

The number of Chinese mobile phone users hit 59.29 million by the end of June, according to Information Industry Minister Wu Juchuan. Wu said subscribers are joining at an average of 2.67 million per month. China had predicted the number of users would hit 70 million this year, but if this rate proves steady, that number could reach 76 million.
