Heinz:

Indeed.

As I noted earlier, I'm becoming more aggressive. I was fortunate enough to be mostly on the sidelines for this recent rally, but it went far beyond what I had expected and now the coyote is 20 feet away from the cliff's edge. Having been smashed in the teeth badly already, I expect that Joe Five-Pack will panic much more quickly this time. Also, many funds are still massively exposed to the tech sector, so who buys the stale bread when these momentum bozos start to unload? This down leg has all the requirements in place for a brutal panic sell-off. We shall see if the sheep are really "in it for the long slide.... er, haul".

Best, Earlie

we wonder how analysts make their recommendations...

I've got a funny story for you guys. Last night a friend of mine called me from New York. She just got a job as a publicity agent for Cisneros, the biggest media conglomerate in the Spanish-speaking world. The first day on the job her boss comes to her and says "I'm going to be on TV in a few days, can you come up with some stock picks for me?"

So my friend says to me, I don't know anything about stocks, can you give me some recommendations? I thought okay, nothing too obscure... how about Placer Dome? When I explained to her this is a gold mining stock she said no no, my boss wants something really flashy-sounding. I said gold can be flashy, but she didn't go for it. So I said how about FCEL and AMD. Of course those are dropping like rocks right now, but they might be a good buy for the long term, so I don't have to feel too guilty...

So that's how it works. They'd rather sound good than be right, and they don't know the difference anyway.
