I mean she hated Bush..she was spitting venom when she mentioned his name

You mean the way Dan Burton does when he talks about Clinton? <g> There is no denying that the Shrub has managed to alienate the Europeans. Much of this was probably an intentional policy shift, but it was still poorly handled. However, you are right, it is unfair to accuse him of sinking the GE-HON merger. (He didn't do much to save it either, but it can be argued that that shouldn't be his job). A much more plausible, but still unlikely, hypothesis is that once Jack Welch got to look at HON up close he was searching for any way he could find to get out of the deal.

Another Doosy. There is no accounting for GOOD TASTE in JOURNALISM, but as a former Trade Ambassador you would think she would have at least some class, and some loyality to the USA first and its constitution and thereby at least give due respect to the new Presidential Administration. GE+HOM M&A European Union appointee (unlected) Duisenberg, is a real DOOSY. But I can not fault the REACTIONARY response of Europe to the flawed and failed Monetary policy under Greenspan that has brought us the 2nd Grenspan induced recession and has forced the hands so far of OPEC and EUROPE to protect their "currencies", by keeping OIL prices high and the Euro-Dollar low, and also egaging in PROTECTIONISM for AIRBUS, all because of the GE-HON M&A should not and can not and ought to not disgorge themselves of their aerospace and avionics divisions which are seen as a threat to Europe. With Greenspan's policies only helping Communist Chinese 12 cents an hour slave labor slave trade (not free trade), and pushing the world into a stagnating deperession with the eventual hyperinflation from downsized production shortages, and setting the stage for a TRADE WAR, I say fine, let loose the dogs of war then. We better make sure we win the TRADE WAR and the FOMC could be the first casualty, as it is in dire need of reform and accountability in our modern more democratic and decentralized world.
