flap, the compute technology today can solve the bullet hitting the bullet today and ballistic missiles are a fairly static technology. The computing power since the time of the patriot is better by the factor of a hundred or more. It's doubling every couple of years.

I also believe that the unknown advances in technology based on any large scale project result in net gain to mankind. Their are advances in material science and in manufacturing process technology. The economic benefit will be more helpful to the poor that billions thrown at education.

As to fixing education. Computers and the internet and lots of bandwidth, much of which is a child of laser research, will create cyber teachers that provide a currently unavailable opportunity to the poor that even the democrat's can't screw up.
