If memory serves, doesn't/didn't JDSU carry about 30 billion worth on their balance sheet?

>I warned several pension funds last summer about this and got laughed out of the boardrooms. Not much laughing now.<

One of my old mentors used to say 'I always gauge the potential of an investment move by how much laughter it generates." I've found it to be pretty much true. Not too many people laughing about tech stocks these days, so I will continue to avoid them. Gold OTOH is still generating chuckles, so I'll be buying the dips there. <ng>

Went long some TRU late yesterday, its yield is up to 25% now.

Has it warmed up pretty well on the big cold lake yet? It's been real warm here this week..

Regards,
TW

<I warned several pension funds last summer about this and got laughed out of the boardrooms. Not much laughing now.>

And shareholders are paying these clowns for their fiduciary experience? They're being paid by inexperienced shareholders to be smart enough to save their companies from the fact that there never has been a "new era". I've never seen lawyers to be loyal to anything but money. Where are they and why are they afraid to bring class action lawsuits against the insiders that pocketed millions while destroying residual value for their shareholders? Do you think this was all part of the Apres Moi Le Deluge that appears more and more likely to have been allowed under the last admin?

I'd really like your opinion (& others),

thanks in advance,
Tom

Earlie, Nortel said in the conference call that their providers are seeing decreasing network traffic. I can't think of anything more devastating to techs at this point. The economy has barely slowed down. Network traffic is supposed to keep increasing exponentially for at least the next decade to justify the fiber and network investments already in place. With PCs and wireless phones showing clear signs of saturation, this was the only area where future growth was more or less guaranteed.
