>>>I just wanted to say that it might be considerate to control the boasting and overdone enthusiasm about stocks tanking hard when some - many of them lurkers - are getting killed long at that moment. It's kind of gross to see rows of $$$$$$$$$$$$ and overdone joy when some people are trapped. Just asking for a little consideration for others! I'd like to keep this thread the quality thread it has always been.<<<

Susan,

It just reinforces for those that are trying to hold investments for the long term that hedging must be a part of their strategy....buying puts, selling calls at resistance points when us traders are euphoric etc....the premiums at times are very large. Knowing and employing such a LT strategy affords one to sit back with a cooler head knowing they are doing their best at controlling risk and taking advantage of these extremes....it's a totally different world for the basic daytrading mentality we try to live by...

Quarterly expirations are always extremely volatile....coupled with earnings warnings and poor economic numbers get people confused and upset....This is just an extreme....and will soon subside?
