Andre, pretty soon $100.00 will buy you a 128 MB CompactFlash or SmartMedia card.

"Pretty soon" is already here, Aus! Here's a 128MB SanDisk CF card going for $85 (yes, $85!!) after rebate. And it's not from an 'obscure' retailer, either...

amazon.com

Kiss DataPlay goodbye in the digicam market: a 128MB CF card will hold a good 200 shots at 2 megapixels, right?

Andre

There will be markets for different type of storage devices just as there are markets for different types of cameras and recorders. The disposable cameras haven't done away with cameras that are "reusable", and DataPlay won't do away with flash cards. To some people, price is the most important consideration. If they don't want to spend $50 or more for a flash card, they'll buy DataPlay disks. Others will buy flash cards because they want the durability and reusability. The market for storage is just divided into another segment with DataPlay.
