I wouldn't go by the TTM. Estimated EPS is .97 which puts the estimated PE at 41

Thats great. But we are in the 'missing estimated numbers' season. And some of of the numbers missed are ridiculous like JNPR which is now going to miss by 30% and of course you have seen the stock price get murdered literally and continues to go down daily.

Bruce. Do you think those numbers will hold up?

I see Alex Brown lowered their numbers on CIEN this morning. Perhaps others will follow.

Sorry if the below has been posted. I haven't had a chance to read the thread.

Optical network equipment maker Ciena (CIEN:Nasdaq - news - commentary) was down 8.4% in late morning trading after Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown cut its estimates on the stock over concerns about the telecom sector.

According to published reports, Deutsche Banc lowered 2001 EPS to 71 cents on revenue of $1.7 billion from 73 cents and revenue of $1.74 billion. Thomson Financial/First Call had previously estimated 74 cents. Ciena had traded sharply higher on the Island ECN as part of a preopen sector rally.
