And for some "homework" over the weekend, I would strongly encourage people to listen to the HGSI analyst day presentation. I was extremely impressed, and I learnt a lot.

Incidentally, they have re-iterated their 100k (or more) human gene claim on an "apples to apples" basis (not counting alternative splicings as multiple genes). Haseltine noted with some amusement that the Genome Project count had already increased (now standing at about 37k). I don't really think it matters that much from an investment viewpoint, but it's still a fun controversy.
