It's called Basic Training. The rigors are flexible, the USMC's being particularly difficult (and properly so as the Marines are shock troops) whereas the Army's is hard, but not quite so stringent.

The purpose of Basic Training is to break down the individual's sense of self in order to mold him into part of a group, able to understand and obey orders. And protect his mates. All while getting into tip-top physical shape. No doubt Finland does the same. Can't confirm as the Finnish Armed Forces Web page is "under construction"......LOL.

No such thing as soldiers debating the merits of an order under hazardous circumstances. However, the flexibility given officers on the field under US military doctrine is enormous. It is a reason why they are so successful in war games against Euro opponents, particularly the linear, orthodox, and inflexible Germans. The Italians? Puhhleeeze!

What makes you think that the Q is militaristic in its organization? A successful company that has singlehandedly taken a telecommm standard from zero to the basis for 3G is patently creative and flexible. If it's militaristic, so what? It's worked.

You are pontificating again.
