Jefferson probably would not have agreed, though when buying the Louisiana Territories, he may as well have been a Federalist (want to give them back?) I am not overly concerned, since he was wrong about a number of things, like agrarianism. As for Pearl Harbor, that is an unproved and libelous allegation, and, in any case, does not flow from Federalism, even if true. I am as concerned about the killed and maimed in the North, and, since I blame the South for starting the war, consider Jeff Davis et al responsible for the casualties on both sides. As for taxation and social programs, that seems to me to be a case by case matter. Under the original scheme of government, in any case, any individual state was just as at liberty to tax its citizens and establish social programs, so who knows if there would be less of that under the old regime, in the wake of crises like the Depression.......
