yes, that makes perfect sense. i just don't know... at this moment... what to suggest.

but that may change (i may find an answer), or someone else may have an idea here pretty soon.

where did you find this remedy you noted? the one that was too complex? do you have a link, or can you copy it? maybe someone can break it down into english. <g3>

this looks like the culprit, listed under SYMPTOMS....

"Your computer stops responding (hangs) when you attempt to download a file from the Windows Update site."

advise you to try as many of the resolutions as you can until the prob is alleviated. note that the first on the list is again pointing at the security level needing to be set at medium. would be nice if it were as simple as that.
