"China is officially atheist. " So was the USSR.......but that doesn't mean every Russian or Chinese is atheist, only that the government doesn't allow religious groups to garner any power.....In 3rd world or impoverished countries the church is very powerful..and I think it's because these people are easiest to "put the fear of god" in. While under the control of the USSR, Poland was also officially atheist, but you saw how quickly that changed when Soviet domination ended. Do you think the Poles suddenly found religion again??? The Catholic church now dominates Polish politics....
