The reality is that you could argue that hedonics should have been used all along... in fact you should argue that if you believe in the concept. So AT LEAST what you have created is economic numbers that are no longer comparable to the past AND that are constantly changing depending on what a bunch of moles in the stacks at the BLS library are coming up with!!! I find the arguement that ANYONE [let alone some bureaucrat] can properly estimate the added productivity value of a product [let along the thousands they use hedonics on] quite humerous. This is beside the fact that I don't think it matters anyway... productivity is output per worker, period.

BTW... where are the negative adjustments for things that have degraded in quality and 'reduced' productivity : traffic jams, reduced water quality in cities, explosion of working moms and effects on kids, etc. ???
