Sig, It still takes a lot more energy to make the hydrogen than you get back out even in a battery powered car. The distribution infrastructure will not be there for 50 years, but it will be there in time.

I think we will see diesel/electric hybrids brideg the gap.

We will see a steady increase in the price of oil with time at above the rate of inflation, this will become a component of inflation as it impacts many plastics, metals as well as the price of gas.

Possibly fusion will come along, however in time they will make state nuclear plants that are not sueable.

One conundrum...In the USA all the voters have secret ballots, but the members of government do not have this secret ballot.
Now you can say that is so we can see they do our will and vote as we want. The truth is the visible ballot is the enabling mechanism for pork delivery.

With a secret ballot they could vote what their people wanted and not what the party whip traded their votes off for.
