There will be some companies that will rise out of the ashes that we will be kicking ourselves over a year or more out from here. The only questions are which ones. Most of what you list are solid companies with good long term prospects. The only question is when will we see the bottom in the share prices. I still say we see a bit more carnage before the best prices can be seen.

Not even a year from now. These prices could double by fall.
There are exceptions of course. But even LU now is substantially undervalued. It is being treated like it is going out of business but remember they just announced a great deal with IBM and recently a 5 billion deal with VZ. They also have a billion shares of undervalued AGAR stock. Their main problems are short-term debt relief. Just need to swallow some bitter medicine. Analysts I've heard predict recovery within 6-12 months. At $6.25 a share that's juicy. But NOK, EMC, ERICY types are just powerhouses which will continue to dominate and eventually grow very nicely again. In the meantime, volatility. But I would definitely buy into the peks of negativity, esp with Greenspan about to move again.
