hi esteban

interesting problem you are facing. thanks for posting it, and i hope you discover the answer. soon i will be networking a couple pc's together, with operating systems and browsers somewhat similar to yours, and i may have better input for you. as for when i will get to that, i hope soon, but other duties continue to pop up that preclude my having a good time with networking projects.

meanwhile, here is a nice ie internet options tweak guide that gives decent explanations and recommendations for the settings. home.earthlink.net

the http 1.1 settings draw my interest, but it really could be a setting that you would never expect. i think your idea of upgrading to the same browser version on each machine, then making your settings identical, is a very valid way to proceed. to my way of thinking, that would answer a big question and allow you to focus your attention on other areas if the problem persisted.

in addition, you are probably aware of this, but did you know that you can glean an awful lot of info on these esoteric ie settings merely by placing them word-for-word into a good search engine like google?

good luck and hope this helps

:)
