Scumbria, your problem is you see Europe as being one nation. It may surprise you to know there are other countries in Europe beside Britain. LOL

Now, as to the specific British electoral situation...Many of Tony Blairs policies could be taken right out of George Bush's campaign pledges. Reforming public education with testing, accountability, choice and a decentralized power structure. Limiting the punishment of high taxes on high achievers, supporting SDI and a strong defense, etc..

The story which isn't being told by our liberal media about the British election is the way in which Labor has moved decidedly right over the last decade in order to win. Couple that with a poor competitor, a person who appears honest and without a major scandal like Blair, and it's not surprising to see the results we've witnessed.

Execept, of course, for Spain and Italy, whose recent elections are a harbinger for the future in Germany, England, and possibly even France. People get the most weary of socialist policy when they have been in power for a while, and the damage becomes far more apparent. The superior example of Ireland is not unnoticed in Europe.

The second half of this decade in Europe will be characterized by nation after nation withdrawing from the European Union, which is nothing but a raw power grab by career bureaucrats from tiresome elected officials who try to interfere with their neatly-planned agenda.
