But I'm pretty convinced that we're only just beginning to figure out how to exploit it. Cheap bandwidth, like cheap transistors, allows applications that are difficult or impossible to imagine without it.

Thanks for your input Katherine. Could the Nortel statement on internet traffic declining short term be correct?, still hard to believe though. At any rate, if you are right about the longer term, it will just be a matter of time.

Warren Buffet once said that in the stock market it tends to be very easy (for him at least!) to know what will happen, but very hard to know when it will happen.

I think the best opportunities in the market are often a matter of waiting something out. Because hardly anybody wants to wait, opportunity is created. I sure hope that is the case for some of these really beaten down techs, like in the bandwidth area.
