Please do not construe "curiosity" or "interest" with "bullishness".

I think I probably used the wrong word....optimism (about EDGE's schedule) might have been more appropriate. Considering the amount of difficulty which operators have faced with the deployment of GPRS, it is hard for me to see a quick deployment of EDGE. I think that it would be absolutely mandatory for GPRS to have considerable success prior to any roll-out of EDGE. OTOH....W-CDMA will be rolled-out in Japan regardless of the success of EDGE. The same will have to be true for operators that have won 3G licenses but do not currently offer 2G mobile services. I believe Hutchison is in this position in a number of European countries.

The point of my story is that although you have to look hard for AWS EDGE timetables, and nothing has been published about EDGE field trials, I do not think we can assume that they are not taking place.

Very true...but since I have no evidence that these field trials have taken place, and I DO have evidence of HDR field trials, I can only conclude that HDR is currently ahead of EDGE. JMO...
