Nothing against oilmen except we should not have a President, Vice President and many others in the White House including National Security Advisor made up of them. Same would be true of any special interest group which could have a severe impact on our pocketbooks, our environment or our future. When Bush picked Cheney he picked a man representing the forces which already owned him and had always paid for him. Bush apparently trusts no one outside his inner circle of old cronies whom are mostly oil and heavy industry men. Even token black woman Condaleeza Rice was on the board of Chevron and has a tanker named after her.

How would you like it if Reagan had picked nothing but Hollywood people to run his administration? Same kind of deal. Too much power in the hands of one spcial interest, and as we all know absolutel power corrupts absolutely. If it hadn't been for Jeffords and the public backlash against Bush-Cheney's first moves in office we'd hear no talk of moderation or backing off their gouging positions. It's all PR posturing now as they realize they blew it and are setting themselves up as un- reelectable, the villains in what could be the biggest and most expensive scandal in US history. The so-called energy crisis which lines all Bush cronies pockets at the expense of the rest of us.

I don't hate Bush or Cheney but I wish we had more balance of power and pray public opinion continues to pressure them to back off and keep the pigs from the trough. We are the ones who pay for it in the long run. I also hope McCain emerges as the leader of the GOP or goes Independent and beats Bush as Campaign Finance Reform is the single most important issue in politics today. It must be passed. All this soft money just feeds the hogs. And we don't want our leaders to be corrupt pigs serving special interests. That isn't and shouldn't be what democracy is all about. So far Bush has shown no courage to say no to his constinuency of polluters and oil company friends. The day he does is the day when I will respect him. But I doubt it will ever happen unless he's on the verge of losing an election.
