08:07 ET Microsoft (MSFT) 68.02: -- Update -- Sources at Salomon Smith Barney saying that the firm is coming out cautious on MSFT; believes June and Sep qtrs may be at risk by 1-2 cents and a couple million on revenues; cites weak IT spending and deterioration in Europe and Asia. Firm still positive on FY02 and reiterates BUY and $85 target.

08:03 ET IBM (IBM) 113.60: Goldman Sachs hardware analyst Laura Conigliaro previews IBM's quarter; cuts revenue growth forecast to 3.0% from 3.5% due to foreign exchange; also discusses a "realistic worst case scenario" - says this would be flat revenues and a 5-6 cent EPS miss vs her $1.14 forecast.
