SCM Microsystems Says Dell Computer to Use its Editing Product
By Vita Bekker

Fremont, California, June 18 (Bloomberg) -- SCM Microsystems Inc., the maker of technology for TVs, editing equipment and so- called smart cards, said Dell Computer Corp. became a customer for its new video editing software.

The product is targeted at personal computer manufacturers, SCM said in a statement on the PRNewswire. Dell, the biggest direct seller of personal computers, will offer the software to customers wanting to edit home videos with enhanced images, effects and sound, SCM said.

Fremont, California-based SCM has been suffering from decreasing demand for its digital video editing technology as the U.S. economy slows, it said in April. The company posted a first- quarter loss and said it will cut some jobs.

SCM's shares fell 47 euro cent, or 4 percent, to 11.03 euros. The stock has declined 89 percent in the past year, while the Neuer Markt Blue Chip Index has fallen 77 percent.

Your comment"2 for 1 deal on flat panels. This quarter it's just 25% off."
Now that Panels are below cost, and the LCD monitor/crt replacement market is increasing, there is not much left.
Same for DRAM.
Same for Hard Drives.
on and on..

More to that point, I haven't been called with 'deals' either, unlike last quarter.

Then again, no one contacted me until there was only a week to go in the quarter. Also, I haven't been a regular customer of DELL for some time now (and even when I was, I was small potatoes), so I wouldn't expect to be contacted that regularly by the sales force.

Dell is showing a Dimension 8100 for $899(wo monitor); up to $150 off on all notebooks; a free palm m100 (ain't that a joke) with any business desktop or laptop. You can configure an L series dimension for $499.

Sure hope they are cost cutting extremely efficiently.
